Although VYSA does not require any kind of volunteering it is always welcome and any help just makes the program that much better. Please contact our Director of Recreational Soccer for exact details, but here are the titles of some of the VYSA volunteer positions.

Each player receives a PUMA jersey, a pair of PUMA shorts and a pair of PUMA socks. VYSA does not size players individually for rec because we have to order in bulk to have them ready in time for the season. Players are lined up from tall to small and given uniforms accordingly. If your player's uniform is way out of whack, please contact the Director of Recreational Soccer.
Shin guards are required for all practices and matches. Correct sized ball for your age/division. Cleats are recommended but not required. In Visalia there is one Soccer Only store which is Classic Soccer near In Shape on Mooney. Otherwise try Big 5 Sporting Goods, Dicks Sporting Goods, Target, Walmart, or online.
We all fall under the same umbrella and all work to provide the best soccer experience for the love of the beautiful game within the Central Valley. CVPFC is our club/travel side a year-round program. Matches are generally played 50% at Riverway Sports Park and the remaining matches played from locally to anywhere in Northern California. VYSA is recreation soccer played 2 seasons annually with all matches held at Riverway Sports Park.
Not specifically, but VYSA will hold onto certain items until retrieved. Please ask at the arbor to see if VYSA has found anything you have lost. Any items left for longer than a week will be disposed of.

It is comparable to all recreational soccer leagues in Visalia and the surrounding cities, but VYSA can be slightly more competitive than some. VYSA uses trained and paid referees for each match to ensure rules and the spirit of the match is adhered to. If you are looking for a more competitive league, try Central Valley Premier FC. To find the divisions and age groups please go to www.Visaliasoccer.com and click on the Register Now button. The age chart is updated there for each season to find the specifics for birth years and divisions. Generally speaking, are age groups are U4 to 17U or 2 years old to 17 years old.
Fall Season teams are formed by random player placement, coach, and friend requests.
Spring Season VYSA will hold a draft for the U8 thru U12 divisions. All other divisions teams will be placed by random player placement the same as Fall.
VYSA recreational soccer coaches are instructed to make sure each player will play at least half the match.
Fall and Spring have an end of season tournament, so here is a basic breakdown of that. The first five matches for U8-17U are regular season matches. Based on those results teams placed into tournament brackets. The teams then play 3 tournament matches. Based on the results from those matches semifinals and finals are populated.
Only the youngest U4 Division is Co-Ed unless VYSA had enough players registered to separate that season. All other divisions, U6 and up have separate boys and girls divisions and teams.

Yes. VYSA has a sibling discount of $10 off per child and the fourth child is free.
For $25, you can request a friend to be on the same team as you. The friend must also request and pay the $25 fee for the request to be fulfilled. There is a limit of one request per child. Multiple requests will not be accepted to ensure there is no stacking of teams.
Note: Please follow our age chart to make sure both players are in the same division.

To maintain fair play without stacking teams, VYSA does not allow coach requests. Your best option would be to use ‘Play with Friend’ and work within those specifications.
Starting in Fall 2026 we will be pushing our refund deadlines up so we can start our seasons a week sooner with the new VYSA Jamboree.

A typical season will have 8 Matches. Sometimes rain, forest fire, and other elements make it very difficult to hit 8, but that is our goal.
U4 & U6 Play 8 regular season matches no playoffs or championship.
U8 – 17U have an End of Season Tournament that will conclude with a championship.
Each team’s coach gets to choose the time & location of the team’s practices. VYSA recommends there to be 1-2 practices per week for about an hour each. Those recommendations change based upon age. Coaches can practice anywhere in the city of Visalia (Riverway Sports Park Fields 1-5 are excluded as practice locations as these fields are reserved for our Central Valley Premier FC teams.
Matches start at 8am and run throughout the day on Saturday. Match times vary depending upon the division.

The League provides each coach with a coach shirt, match ball, and a set of 10 cones. Returning or Multiple season coaches will receive various gear starting in the Spring of 2026.
If you coach your child’s team, you will be refunded the registration fee for 1 player @ the end of the season that you coach. The Director of Recreational Soccer will send out a message in BYGA announcing the dates to pick up the refund. If a coach does not pick up the refund by the final date VYSA will apply to the coach’s players next seasons registration or assume it is a donation if the player is not registered.
Being a recreation soccer league, VYSA does not keep teams together from previous seasons.

For Fall, early to mid-August. Once the BYGA app is updated with rosters for each team send a message through your team chat to the group asking for confirmation of message received. Hold a parent meeting right after your first practice and make it quick. Ask for help with an assistant coach, look for a team mom or manager (snack schedule), give the details of your practice times/locations, introduce the free rec camp, and make sure everyone is on BYGA.
